Ghosts Ranch is fairly remote, so it’s important to understand what health services are available when and where.

WUULF Board Member

If you do have an injury or medical need, a board member may not be able to provide medical care, but can usually route you to someone who can. WUULF does ask about medical training so that if we have an issue or emergency, we know who our EMTs, nurses, and doctors are. The board member of the day can typically be found by the big tree or Lower Pavilion.

First Aid

For small cuts and injuries, we keep a first aid kit at the back of the Lower Pavilion. The youth program leaders also have a kit, as do hiking leaders.

Nurses Station

There is a nurses station behind the swimming pool and dining hall. It’s not usually staffed, so do look for hours – typically around lunch and dinner.

Front Office

Just because the nursing station is closed doesn’t mean help isn’t around! You can go to or call the front office, and they can usually radio the nurse. 505-685-1000

Española Hospital

This is the nearest hospital, and is 45 mins outside of the ranch… Longer if they have to pick you up. They can handle most broken bones, but for life threatening or complicated issues may still send you to Sante Fe.

Sante Fe Hospital

This hospital is 1.5 hours from the ranch. We’ve never had someone end up here, please don’t change that.

Sickness and Masking

While we’re not in COVID times any more, we do acknowledge people still get sick. It’s our ask that if you are sick with a communicable disease, you don’t come/participate. We’re just too good at sharing! There are times when someone gets sick halfway through the week. In those cases we may ask they self isolate or head home.
