Dancing Through Time & Space

Atmospheric scientist, geologist and avid night-sky watcher Scott Denning and dancer, choreographer, yogi and movement artist Ann Moradian join forces to explore, learn about, and immerse ourselves in the natural world, from the birth of the universe, to the incoming and outgoing breath that sustains our lives today. In addition to daily movement, breathing practices and self-awareness, we will experience the geology and ecology of this extraordinary region by day, and explore galaxy under the very dark night skies of the desert and close to a new moon.

We’ll explore the natural history of the Earth from its origins in clouds of cosmic dust through the formation of our atmosphere and oceans, the origin and evolution of life and biochemistry, to the many episodes of mountain building and erosion that have produced the spectacular topography and landscapes of the Ghost Ranch region.

Throughout these explorations, we will integrate structured movement to (re)claim our bodies and our selves as parts of the natural world, through which matter, energy, and awareness flow. Incorporating elements from yoga, dance and guided improvisation, we will breathe, stretch, connect, pulse, and flow with our own inner nature, and with the ecologies we are a part of.

Participants will experience a broader view of the concept of nature that includes a deeper appreciation of the science of origin and destiny well as a deeply personal sense of dwelling both in one’s embodied being, in nature, and in the larger cosmos.
