Kids & Youth Programming
WUULF is Multigenerational
It is vital to the retreat that it is meaningful for our younger participants as well as for adults. In general, the kids are divided by age. What ages are grouped together depends on how many kids register, but they are usually grouped as Little Kids, Older Kids and Teenagers. On “program days”, we are divided into Adults and Children/Youth for different activities. At the start of the week, the kids spend their time doing team building, which includes the Ranch’s Ropes Course for the teenagers (as available) and getting to know each other. They do art projects, play games, and go for hikes. Depending on the retreat’s theme, the kids may also explore the theme and how it is incorporated into their lives. If we’re lucky, the kids work up a group performance for the Talent/No-Talent Show! On “non-program days” Adults and Children/Youth are together for activities. This can include off-site activities like river rafting, or on-site activities like tie-dying and hiking. On these days, we plan for the on-site activities to be friendly for all-ages. Each evening, following dinner, we all gather for a night of games or music or other merriment.

WUULF is an opportunity for the kids to be themselves, away from the academic environment. We support and love our LGBTQ+ kids.
WUULF is a chance for parents to spend time with other adults, enjoying “grown up time”, and for kids to be with other kids. It is also an excellent occasion to be on retreat, together, as a family.
We rely on volunteers to lead our kids programming. These fantastic people enjoy spending time with our kids and watching them grow throughout the week, and over the years. We strive to follow the UUA’s Youth Safety Guidelines.
